About One Direction – Stockholm Syndrome

Social media has become important in many of our lives. It’s often used to promote business, events and groups as well. One Direction is one music group that owes its popularity to using social media successfully, as it was through social media that they first achieved international success, even though they could not win “The X Factor” of 2010. They came third. However soon after, they had a contract with Syco Records, thanks to their growing popularity.

Sometimes called “ID”, One Direction is a boy pop band from London in the United Kingdom. The band is made of five members – Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Liam Payne. Active on the music scene since 2010, they have been coming out with their work through Columbia and Syco. One Direction belongs to the following genres of music – teen pop, pop rock, and pop. Over the years they have won plenty of awards and recognitions, including four MTV Video Music Awards, and four Brit Awards among many others. This music band enjoys global recognition. They get a lot of attention wherever they visit. Naturally One Direction’s tours are sold off in advance always.

One Direction has come out with four studio albums so far. They are “Up All Night” of 2011, “Take Me Home” of 2012, “Midnight Memories” of 2013, and the latest “Four” of November 17th 2014. One Direction’s first three albums have all been certified Platinum. The last one has already got the Gold certification in less than a month. And it’s on way to becoming an as big a hit as the earlier ones. The first four albums have all been #1 on Billboard, which is a unique achievement. The group has released a couple of EPs, a single video album, and as many as 14 music videos too.

“Stockholm Syndrome” is a song from One Direction’s fourth studio album “Four”. It’s the eleventh track in this album. The song runs for a total of three minutes and thirty five seconds. Stockholm Syndrome has been written by Harry Styles, Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, and Johan Carlsson. It has been produced by Bunetta, and Ryan.

The video runs for four seconds more. It has been seen by 1,309,329 people in less than a week, and Liked by almost 41,000 people. There are more than 2000 comments as well, most of which are positive ones. This fact alone tells us how popular this song has become.

The interesting thing about Stockholm Syndrome is that, as many as two other music groups have come out with songs with this title as well, such as Muse and Blink-182. Stockholm Syndrome is actually an interesting term. This refers to a psychological phenomenon where a hostage shows sympathy and empathy to his captor. The feeling is positive. In fact, the hostage may even identify with the captor.

The lyrics of this song speak of the same thing. Here are the last words… “Baby, I’ll never leave if you keep holding me this way, oh o-oh”.
